My journey with Endometriosis, in this personal section i will explain a little about myself, my daily struggles and my path to diagnosis. I hope women reading this are able to get some advice, support and hopefully relate to my personal journey with endometiosis
Hi let me introduce myself, my name is Chloe i am 21 years old and i have suffered with endometriosis since the age of 13. i was only diagnosed with endometriosis in may 2026 through a lapascopsy surgery done by the NHS, i waited 8 years to be diagnosed and its been a rough few years. A lot of women who have symptoms of endometriosis have to wait 5-10 years to be diagnosed, all gynecologist waiting lists are through the roof so it is taking women years even just for there first appointment. Endometriosis is growing on both my ovaries, fallopian tubes, pelvic lining, uterus, bladder, bowel. I am hoping women do find this website useful and hopefully our endo friendly care packages bring smiles to women who suffer day to day, there is nothing better than a pamper night when your feeling rubbish! I suffer every day in pain some days are a lot harder, i often find soothing baths, heated blankets and sticking to a healthy diet helps to a point.
Endometriosis impacts my life everyday, when i was diagnosed i was told it was stage 4 which is the most advanced stage of this condition, with the amount of pain i felt everyday it didnt come to much suprise. Its impacted my work and social life a lot i feel almost every woman with endometriosis can agree it, it also has a big effect on mental health as due to pain you spend a lot of time in bed resting. No matter how much sleep you get the tiredness is always there. On my good days which is however very rare i always try to go out of my comfort zone, socialising and trying to enjoy time with family and friends. Its good to have support around you especially friends, family, partner or someone close to you. My partner is very understanding with my condition and knows what to do when a flare comes on, he was there for my diagnostic surgery, he helped me in recovery and this helped me massively. For any women who have surgery upcoming i can advise on things to take to ensure your ready and also for recovery, take a small bag with you add some cotton pjs or a nightie for the journey home, a pillow for in the car put it on your stomach were the seat belt goes, 100% cotton underwear, sanitary pads i would advise to take slightly bigger ones, some slippers, toiletries incase your kept in overnight. For recovery i wore nighties for around 2-3 weeks as i found this the easiest and comfiest as you will be extremelly sore, avoid a bath for the first 3-4 weeks or go off what your medical professional advises you, for the first 2 days soup was the only thing i could eat but everyones different, light walks for the first few days, hot water bottle for the gas pain and avoid putting hot water bottles on your stiches. Going under anesthetic can be scary i advise to speak to a nurse before hand as they can offer a relaxant to help you relax, i had this and it helped me a lot as i was terrified. When you do get put to sleep its over in a few seconds and you wake up in recovery, if you feel hot or cold tell a nurse straight away, the same if you feel pain or nausea
